Introduction
Oberon’s rolling hills, set in the crisp alpine climate of the Central Tablelands west of Sydney, host one of the region’s most significant cattle operations. This is land that works hard, shaped by seasons that demand resilience and reward those who think ahead.
Here, Project Oberon is aiming to unlock the full value of the land for both producer and the buyers of their beef. At its core, the project connects on-farm activities with a broader decarbonisation strategy, integrating agronomic improvements with meaningful carbon sequestration. Fertiliser changes, soil carbon enhancement, and a focus on total system efficiency combine to strengthen the land’s natural sinks while reducing both direct and indirect emissions.
This will allow the producer to deliver more than improved soil and productivity—it hopes to provide a new platform for competitive advantage in a market increasingly defined by emissions accounting. For beef buyers, it offers a closed-loop scope 3 reduction mechanism, ensuring their supply chain is actively lowering its environmental footprint in an independently verified manner.
Project Oberon is about working with the land, not against it, finding a way for both productivity and environmental stewardship to pull in the same direction. We're aiming to overtake the notion of ticking compliance boxes and prove — with both technical and commercial outcomes — that ERW helps deliver land management that is profitable, resilient, and future-proof.
